About Emirates Dermatology Society
The Emirates Dermatology Society (EDS) was founded in 1984 as part of the Emirates Medical Association, an umbrella organization that encompasses different medical specialties and practices. The EDS is a proud member of the International League of Dermatological Societies.
The main mission of the EDS is to promote science and research in dermatology and to translate such findings to clinical practice that is relevant and practical to dermatologists in the UAE. In addition, the EDS offers continuous support to our residents & young dermatologists through regular scientific meetings and scholarships. The EDS has strong ties to regional societies as well as international organizations, having had sessions at the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology and the American Academy of Dermatology annual meetings
With our more than 300 official members, the EDS represents dermatology and its subspecialities. We focus also on teaching our young residents in the country and region and giving them chances to present themselves at our meetings and events. As a scientific professional organization, we ensure that future generations of dermatologists receive excellent clinical training and that dermatologic research flourishes. The EDS has worked on many campaigns and has published several UAE consensus guidelines.
The EDS organizes an annual well-attended medical conference with delegates from the region and international. The conference runs for 3 days and provides a broad spectrum of lectures, symposia, and courses. In addition, the society runs monthly meetings for its members and other virtual meetings throughout the year.
The Emirates Dermatology Society is proud to put on its bid to host the World Congress of Dermatology in 2031 in Dubai. The meeting has never been held in the region and dermatologists from this part of the world all have on thing in mind: “It’s TIME”
